Message from Contingent Commander

We are pleased to welcome Sgt. Stuart Sale as our new Staff School Instructor. Stuart has many years experience in the Army and finished his career with 17 Cadet Training Team gaining valuable experience in dealing with cadets and CCF contingents. It is expected that Stuart will make an enormous difference and be able to offer even more training opportunities.

This term our contingent strength has reached 85 cadets, including 12 in the sixth form. These sixth form cadets are working well towards their First Diploma in Public Service with just the final unit to complete. It is expected that they will finish this course early next year ready for their UCAS applications. Our Year 11 cadets are also working well, having completed their expedition, physical fitness test and first aid course elements of the Diploma.

Our Year 10 cadets appear particularly keen this year. As well as enjoying the dinghy sailing, shooting and kayaking we have been able to offer them, there have also been visits for air experience flying, air experience gliding, weekends onboard STC Amaryllis (a Sigma 38) and Blue and Black Swan (two fast motor launches) and a visit to HMS Raleigh for fire-fighting and damage control.

Lt. Cdr. Keith Dubbins RNR (CCF)
