Religious Studies

Years 7, 8 and 9
Religious Studies has one dedicated timetabled lesson per week throughout Years 7 to 9. The syllabus follows detailed study of the religious scriptures from the Old and New Testaments, with an emphasis on acquisition and interpretation skills.

In accordance with the Christian religious calendar there is topical study of the key dates, events and how the appropriate religious festivals are observed and celebrated.  The syllabus of ISEB is closely scrutinized, as well as areas of study from the ‘Isle of Wight Agreed Syllabus’, including the study of other world faiths, are incorporated into the Summer term’s coursework.

GCSE
Religious Studies is now offered as a full GCSE, undertaking the new OCR examination, following a wide syllabus, including comprehensive study of aspects of Christianity and Christian perspectives/ethics on moral, personal and social issues.
