Friends of Ryde School

Throughout its history the School has been well supported by the Friends of Ryde. They first appeared under the guise of the Sports and Social Committee as long ago as 1922; by 1953 they had become known as the Fête Committee, before adopting their current name in 1965.

Over the early years of the School, these committees were a generous source of funds to the School which supported the purchase of new equipment or improvements to facilities. The most recent donations from the Friends have purchased benches, large sunshades for the Fiveways playground and a most helpful contribution was made towards the new pavilion. However, fund raising (while much appreciated) is not the most important element of the Friends’ work. They meet on a regular basis to organise social activities during the course of the year eg the Summer Fête, Christmas Fair and Carols, Casks and Candles. All parents are welcome to join.

The date of the next Friends’ Meeting will be
published in ‘Update’.
