Design Technology
Children enjoy working in the well-equipped room dedicated to the delivery of this popular curriculum area. They are encouraged, through a variety of learning opportunities and situations, to be independent enquirers and investigators. This allows their creativity to flourish in problem solving situations. Children experience working in a range of resistant materials, compliant materials, textiles and food technology.
The process is as important as the end product, which can range from toys made with a cam mechanism, to pop-up cards. Our children may work independently or as part of a team. Children learn to respond to a design brief, preparing designs to meet specific needs. They test, evaluate and improve their products, recognising that the quality of a product depends on not only how well it is constructed but if it meets its intended purpose.
