Walk the Wight

Walk the Wight celebrated its 21st year on Sunday 15th May with nearly 11,000 walkers covering up to 26.5 miles to raise money for patient care at the Island’s Earl Mountbatten Hospice.

Many children took part in the Schools Walk the Wight (see below). If you are interested in taking part next year on Sunday 13th May, please look out for information posted on this site and through our weekly newsletters in the New Year.

Schools Walk The Wight

The Schools Walk the Wight encourages school children to get fit and walk to and from school. As they complete each mile, they build up 'virtual' miles to complete the entire distance of Walk The Wight. Each child is given a map of the route and stickers to add to show their progress.

Each child receives a medal of achievement and a t-shirt. If they want, the children, with their parents, can then join the last 4 miles on the day, from Freshwater Bay to Needles Park.
