Extra Curricular

Every pupil is encouraged to take part in extra-curricular activities which foster initiative and self-reliance, as well as developing interests that may last for the rest of their lives.

There is a large number of clubs and societies in all sections of the school. Public Speaking and Debating, Young Engineers, Young Enterprise, the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, Community Service, the Sixth Form Society feature prominently. In addition there is a flourishing Combined Cadet Force that offers a varied programme of activities.

We are keen to ensure that Ryde pupils of all ages are fully conversant with the world beyond the Isle of Wight and a wide range of expeditions and visits are organised to the mainland and abroad. These include field trips, language visits, skiing and canoeing expeditions, sporting and music tours. We also welcome teams from overseas, recent visitors have included schools from Argentina, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand.
